MALI ATTACK - The Department of International Relations has yet to be reached on reports that three South Africans were among foreigners registered at a hotel in Mali, which was earlier this afternoon attacked by a suspected Islamist militant group. 


South African nationals are believed to have been staying at the Hotel Debo, one of three hotels surrounded by Malian soldiers.


According to the reports at least four people, including two soldiers, have been killed.

 


VIGIL FOR SLAIN COPS - Gauteng Premier David Makhura and other community safety forums will tonight lead a night vigil at the Johannesburg Central Police Station in the wake of the recent spate of cop killings.  


The public has been encouraged to bring candles and attend in large numbers. 


Just yesterday a police officer was shot dead at a train station in Orange Farm in the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile, the police union Popcru says it won't sit back and watch police officers being killed and has called on a discussion regarding, among other things, gun laws and the role of private security companies.

ANCWL CONFERENCE - Delegates are preparing themselves to elect new leaders of the ANC Women's League, as the league's 12th National Conference in Irene continues. 


The top five positions are going to be hotly contested as people put their names up for nomination.
