NEW HAWKS BOSS ANNOUNCED - Major-General Berning Ntlemeza has been appointed as the new Hawks boss. 


Ntlemeza served as acting Hawks head, after Anwa Dramat was suspended in December 2014. 


Police minister Nathi Nhleko says Ntlemeza was endorsed by cabinet for the position...


Ntlemeza thanked the cabinet for the confidence that they showed in him as the acting head, and says he will continue to steer the Hawks in the right direction...



ZUMA ADDRESSES COPPER CABLE THEFT - President Jacob Zuma says copper and cable theft will be prioritised, with new legislation set to introduce minimum sentences for those that are found guilty of cable theft. 


Zuma says cable theft has a negative impact on infrastructure development, and that there should be harsher punishment for offenders...



TSHWANE POWER - Residents in Centurion can expect to be without power, following an explosion in Eldoraigne due to cable theft. 


Eldoraigne, Hennopspark, Wierdapark, Raslouw, and Zwartkop are affected by the outage. 


Technicians are on scene and the repair work should be completed and power restored by tonight.



FLABBA TRIAL - A forensic pathologist has told the Randburg Magistrates Court  that rapper Nkululeko 'Flabba' Habedi's stab wound is consistent with one made with considerable force. 


The murder trial of his girlfriend, Sindisiwe Manqele, resumed this afternoon. She stands accused of stabbing and killing Habedi in March this year in his house in Alexandra in Johannesburg. 


The state has called forensic pathologist Dr Thandi Mahuluhulu who conducted the post-mortem on Habedi's body.
