In a statement released on Thursday, the family said Mass Country had become AKA's entire world over the past two years.

"The Supa Mega constantly kept the album release momentum and anticipation high."

Forbes was shot and killed alongside his friend Tebello’ Tibz’ Motsoane in Durban on Friday night.

The rapper's family announced that a public memorial service in his honour will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday.

His funeral is set to be a private ceremony held on Saturday.

Co-executive producer and manager for the album Nivo said the team was extremely blessed to work closely on the project with him.

"We spent a lot of time mapping out this rollout and creating all the content we have under his direction.

"Kiernan worked tremendously hard on this project. He put his heart and soul into it, and we were blessed that he got the opportunity to map out the entire rollout and approve all the elements, so what will be coming out will be as per his direction and his vision."

Managing director at Sony Music Sean Watson said their hearts are broken by Forbes' sudden death.

"We've lost not only an icon but someone who was dear to us as a member of the Sony family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his lobed once and as we all traverse this difficult time."

The artist's single Company, featuring his friend Kiddominant, will be released on the day of his memorial service.

“The single was recorded in Los Angeles during his January holiday," added the family.
