A fire which ripped through an informal settlement in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg has left dozens of families homeless.
The fire broke out on Wednesday near the Madala hostel.
Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says three people were treated for smoke inhalation.
“We responded to multiple shacks on fire incident, Alexandra, we encourage our residents to continue to look after any other heating devices which might cause fire at home like paraffin stoves, candles not to leave them unattended so that we can be able to prevent fire incidents.”
