Alexandra in the dark again following substation fire
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
It is unclear exactly when electricity will be restored for communities in Alexandra, Johannesburg. following a fire at the Vasco Da Gama substation on Tuesday afternoon.
City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena says repairs of infrastructure will take at least 48 hours and only thereafter can power be restored to the area. He was not able to say exactly when this would happen.
Mangena says repair work only began on Tuesday evening as cables were still smoldering, making it difficult for technicians to start.
Two weeks ago, Alexandra suffered a massive power outage due to problems with the same substation.
