This is according to a notice issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) To AirMen (NOTAM), to all airlines operating in the country.

“Both air crew and passengers require a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) certificate not older than 72 hours, says National Transport spokesperson, Ayanda Allie Paine.

“Crew and passengers will still be subjected to screening and prescribed health protocols upon arrival.

“Similar to passengers, the PCR certificate enables crew members to move freely in South Africa upon arrival.”

Aircrew that are not in possession of the negative PCR certificate will still be permitted in the country but will not be allowed to move freely around the country.

“Such crew members are expected to self-quarantine at their hotel,” adds Allie-Paine.
