All I hear from Rand Water is success, says Mchunu

Minister of Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu has rubbished claims that Rand Water is failing to supply water to its customers.
Mchunu addressed delegates during an oversight visit at the Emfuleni municipality on Friday.
Emfuleni is one of the municipalities in Gauteng plagued by service delivery issues, including access to safe drinking water.
Earlier this week, Rand Water said it was working with municipalities to address their difficulties amid an ongoing battle to supply water due to growing demand.
But Mchunu said he is not aware of any major issues at Rand Water.
"It is news to me that Rand Water is failing. There is a technical committee that meets on a daily basis. All I am hearing from them is success. I have not heard of any failure. If there is a failure, it would be a pipe burst or power failure lasting for four hours, preventing us from pumping. These things do happen. On a daily basis, Rand Water pumps water from Vaal and supplying municipalities," said Mchunu.
