Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has assured parents that his department is doing everything possible to ensure the placement of all pupils at schools.
Chiloane spoke to Jacaranda FM News on the sidelines of an event to award bursaries to pupils in Midrand.
A group of disgruntled parents, who are struggling to obtain placements for their children in schools, have been camping at the department’s district offices, hoping for assistance
While an official report is yet to be released, over 21,000 grade 1 and grade 8 pupils are reportedly yet to be placed.
Chiloane vowed that no child will be left behind.
"We are placing our learners everyday. We also have a catch-up program to assist learners that might come later in the month.
"The parents shouldn't worry or fear, as government we are committing to place all the learners and they will catch up.
"We have been experiencing this for quite sometime and we know how to bring the children up in terms of catching up," he said.
