Analyst: Zuma has gone rogue
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Political analyst Ralph Mathekga believes the issue of the removal of
President Jacob Zuma as head of state has dragged on for far too long,
and this has allowed Zuma to go rogue.
This follows reports that President Zuma is refusing to agree to a request by the African National Congress' (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) that he resign.
"This is an expression of how President Zuma has actually undermined his own party and how he has actually gone rogue,” Mathekga says.” He has read the ANC very well and what he sees is a varying coherent ANC. Something he has played a part in.”

Mathekga says this has left the ANC in an embarrassing position.
"Last week he allowed them to give the nation this expectation that he is was going to go and the come out of the truth with nothing.
"The ANC itself has been humiliated through this. I actually think by given him 48 hours they are being very nice to him.”

Mathekga believes Zuma wants to cling onto the Presidency until the completion of the commission of inquiry into state capture.
“That will allow him some sort of leeway in the manner he responds. Or maybe believes he can influence how the commission goes about (its business)."
