This is the first time the ANC’s top officials are meeting since the general elections.

The party won eight provinces, excluding the Western Cape.

"We will give our recommendations (for provincial premiers) to the national working committee. So far, provinces have given us three names each to choose from, we will also discuss the opposition leader in the Western Cape,” said secretary-general Ace Magashule.

Magashule said the party will later hold another meeting to discuss the election process.

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa vowed on Sunday that the party would get rid of individuals implicated in corruption.

Some of the implicated ministers, such as Nomvula Mokonyane and Bathabile Dlamini, still appear on the party's parliamentary list.

Magashule said order to remove someone from that list the individual would have to resign.
