The provincial executive committee held a meeting on Monday to discuss the recent Constitutional Court judgement on the Public Protector's Nkandla report.

ANC spokesperson, Hope Papo confirmed that the PEC met on Monday and that they have noted the apology by President Jacob Zuma.

"As the ANC we have to do a deeper introspection and take far reaching decisions that will repair the damage to our images," Papo added.

Papo said that they will take up the matter with the national leadership as they believe that they believe the apology is only the beginning of dealing with the mistrust caused by the Nkandla matter.

"The PEC believes that the ANC already paid a price during the 2014 elections due to the anger about the matter," he said.

The PEC reiterated that the ANC has earned its leadership through the struggles and sacrifices of its members and supporters over generations.

Papo said that President Jacob Zuma should reflect deeply and to the right thing to resolve the unprecedented crisis that the party currently faces.
