ANC to introduce mayoral candidates
The ANC in Gauteng has confirmed that Thoko Didiza will on Thursday morning be at a gathering in Saxonwold in Johannesburg - where all the party's mayoral candidates will be introduced to the media.
The party says it engaged with Tshwane residents who were unhappy about the announcement as Didiza as the mayoral candidate for Tswhane, come the elections.
This announcement sparked widespread violence since Monday with residents remaining adamant that current mayor, Kgosientso Ramapkgopa, be re-elected.
The ANC in Gauteng confirmed on Twitter that Didiza will be making her first public appearance since the announcement on Thursday.
The ruling party also said that Tshwane residents as well as branches were engaged since the beginning of the week.
In the north of Pretoria, the violent protests continued well into Wednesday night, with residents standing firmly behind current mayor Ramakgopa.
