ANC KZN to appeal High Court judgment
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The African National Congress (ANC) in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN) has decided to appeal last month's ruling by the Pietermaritzburg High Court, which declared the party's 2015 provincial conference unlawful.
The case was brought by ANC councillor Lawrence Dube in May 2016.
ANC provincial spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says the ruling has serious implications for the party ahead of its elective conference in December.

"We were happy that the National Executive Committee (NEC) came to the determination that there should be further consultation with senior counsel in order to determine the prospects of succeeding if the matter is taken on appeal.
"From where we stand we are convinced that the advice we got confirmed our position and therefore we have filed the papers with the intention to appeal the judgement."
The 2015 provincial conference saw Senzo Mchunu ousted as ANC KZN chairperson and replaced by Sihle Zikalala.
