ANC in KZN distances itself from planned shutdown

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has denied
any involvement in a planned shutdown in the province on Monday.
A poster bearing the party’s logo, and which vows to shut down the province, is doing the rounds on social media.
The poster says the shutdown protest will head to the party's provincial offices in Durban on Monday.
“We are aware of the pamphlet and poster circulating of the shutdown tomorrow, using ANC logos. The ANC is not organising anything either as a provincial or regional structure and we distance ourselves from that activity,” says ANC provincial spokesperson Nhlakanipho Ntombela.
“We call on our members and supporters to not allow themselves to be abused by people who have their own nefarious interests.”
Ntombela adds the ANC in KZN is still in discussion with the national leadership around the jailing of former president Jacob Zuma.
“We had a meeting with the national officials of the ANC, we spoke with them and from here onwards they committed to work with us in finding a solution pertaining to the former president.”
