ANC manifesto launch ‘a repetition of SONA’

Political analyst Goodenough Mashigo says President Cyril Ramaphosa's speech during the ANC manifesto launch was a repetition of the State of the Nation Address and the January 8 statement.
Ramaphosa unveiled six priorities for the African National Congress (ANC) ahead of the 2024 elections during the party's manifesto in Durban on Saturday.
These include job creation, re-industrialisation, investing in people and tackling the high cost of living.
"The ANC has realised that if one repeats something many times, people get tired of rebutting it and then it suddenly becomes the truth," said Mashigo.
"What the president said was what was said at the SONA on January 8 and what we are likely going to say on Worker's Day, Freedom Day and Africa Day.
"They repeat their sentiments because most of the people who are going to vote were not even watching the manifesto launch yesterday.
"The ANC has about one million members and gets roughly 10 million votes, which tells you they are aware when they repeat these things.
"They are repeating for people who watch.
"They do not care about the other voters because, at the end of the day, it is not about what they say that makes them vote. It's what they get from the government that makes them vote for the ANC, like social grants, housing and food parcels.”
