ANC: Msimanga and Mosola must account for GladAfrica

The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng on Friday said outgoing Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga and city manager Moeketsi Mosola must take responsibility for the GladAfrica scandal.

A report by the Auditor-General found that the controversial, multi-million-rand contract with GladAfrica was irregular.

The city says R317 million has already been paid to the consultancy firm, while the original value of the contract was R12 billion.

The party’s Tasneem Motara says in August last year the ANC in Tshwane raised concerns about the Democratic Alliance (DA) coalition outsourcing the city's multi-billion-rand capex expenditure.

"This has seen service delivery collapsing in the City of Tshwane with the municipality earning the title of them being the worst performing metropolitan municipality according to the quality of life survey.”

"Instead of holding Msimanga accountable, the DA in what was presented as resignation recalled the Mayor and will now allow him to get off scott-free without answering to the grand theft of state coffers under his watch," Motara says.
