ANC is sinking deeper into crisis, say stalwarts

The African National Congress (ANC) stalwarts and veterans believes President Jacob Zuma’s latest cabinet reshuffle is a factional move, meant to undermine attempts to confront the crisis the country and the ANC is facing.

ANC veteran Wally Serote says they are concerned about remarks by the party’s Secretary General Gwede Mantashe, that the leadership was not consulted about the reshuffle.

“This confirms what we have been saying, that the ANC is in serious crises. It is sinking even deeper into crisis. The manner in which this reshuffle was done has impacted negatively to the rand. This is another contribution to a deeper crisis as this will affect the poorest of the poor,” Serote says.

Serote says the only way out of the crisis is for the stalwarts to form a joint committee, go to a National Consultative Conference, where they will try and repair the damage.

“I spoke to the Secretary General of the ANC today, asking him to look into us meeting. The meeting will require the MK council, veterans and stalwarts to form a team of six where will sit down urgently and work for 24 hours to fix our organisation,” says Serote.
