Zuma was suspended by the ANC in January following his decision to throw his weight by the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe party ahead of the elections.

However, his membership was not terminated.

If he is found guilty, he will become the first ANC president in history to be expelled from the party for misconduct.

Even though Zuma said he would not campaign or vote for the ANC, the former president said he had no plans to resign from the party..

In the internal document seen by Jacaranda FM News, the ANC’s National Disciplinary Committee has charged Zuma with two counts of misconduct.

In the first charge, Zuma is accused of contravening the ANC constitution after he publicly endorsed the MK party in December.

The second charge is for appearing on the candidate list for the MK party in this year's election.

"The ANC reaffirms its commitment to internal discipline and accountability and can confirm that it has formally notified Mr Jacob Zuma of an upcoming disciplinary hearing." the ANC said in a statement on Thursday.

"This critical step underscores the ANC's dedication to its constitutional principles.

"The ANC's National Disciplinary Committee has issued a notice of set down to Mr Jacob Zuma. This formal communication outlines the date, time, and venue for his disciplinary hearing.

"The ANC Constitution provides the framework for this process, ensuring fairness, due process, and transparency.”

It remains to be seen whether Zuma will attend the hearing.
