ANC to revisit e-tolls
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe on Wednesday said the ruling party has decided to revisit the implementation of e-tolls, which he said is a huge financial burden on the black middle class.
Mantashe was addressing a Black Management Forum (BMF) conference and said the ANC was open to suggestions.
"It's adding to a bond repayment of a townhouse, to a payment of debt, to a payment of a car. That's what the middle stratum is all about. The middle stratum...changing the lives of individuals. And when you tamper with that, you are going to be in trouble. The ANC must understand this. Let's go and revisit it. Bring your ideas," Manstashe said.
Mantashe also admitted that his party is facing a huge crisis of corruption and looting of state resources.
He said this has created a trust deficit between the ANC and South Africans, which has hurt them at the recent polls.
