ANC top 6 attending to "urgent matters"
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Top leaders of the African National Congres (ANC) have cancelled their scheduled walkabouts around Cape Town this morning to attend an urgent meeting.

The top 6 were expected to visit various areas around the Mother City as part of their launch of the centenary festivities in honor of late former president Nelson Mandela.
Western Cape ANC secretary Faiez Jacobs says the provincial leadership will take over these public engagements, confirming that the party's top 6 are "dealing with urgent matters".

"We are disappointed that the top 6 will no longer be out and about in Cape Town, but have received notice that they are dealing with urgent matters."
The launch of the celebrations comes while tension rises within the party and amongst South Africans regarding the future of President Jacob Zuma.
Behind-the-scene talks kicked off a week ago to secure an exit for the President.

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa and the President cleared their diaries on Thursday while they seek a compromise.
"The rally for Sunday is still continuing. We have this thing of 'African time', when the time is right things will happen. There is an air of excitement, a sense of anticipation, a sense of things are changing. You see unity within the ANC is very important," says Jacobs.
