ANC veteran Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim has died

The former deputy minister of International Relations and
Cooperation Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim has passed away at the age of 84.
The African National Congress (ANC) confirmed that Ebrahim had died in a press statement released on Monday.
“The ANC learned with deep sadness of the passing of Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim, after a long illness at his home in Johannesburg.”
Ebrahim is survived by his wife Shannon and their children Sarah and Caden.
The former deputy minister was born on 1 July 1937.

Ebrahim was appointed as deputy minister of International Relations and Cooperation in 2009, a position he held until 2017.
He also served as a member of the ANC’s National Executive Committee for 26 years.
The ANC added that Ebrahim, or Ebi as he was affectionately known, played an in important role even after his retirement.
“Comrade Ebi served as a member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC for 26 years, from 1991 till 2017. Even after retirement, he continued to play an active role in the renewal of the movement and in international relations.”
