ANC will be an effective opposition: Mantashe

ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says the party will be an effective opposition in Johannesburg and Tshwane and will vigorously pursue issues of service delivery.

Mantashe briefed the media earlier on the constitution of governments in various municipalities across the country.

After a bruising Local Government Elections, Mantashe said it's time to reconnect with the voters.

"When we are in opposition in Johannesburg, we will not be a small opposition. We are the big opposition that is the biggest component of that council," Manstashe said.

Mantashe refuted claims that the party has alienated itself from urban voters, saying scores of them voted for the ANC.
