ANC will pay for state capture sins at polls - political analyst

Political analyst Theo Venter says he fears the findings of the state capture commission will yield few prosecutions.
According to Venter's predictions, high-profile politicians implicated in the lengthy dossier will only get a slap on the wrist.
Venter's comments follow the release of the fourth volume of the report on Friday.
The report names Eskom executives Anoj Singh, Brian Molefe and Matshela Koko as central to the capturing of power utility.
It also found that R6.5 million of the money siphoned off by corrupt officials during the Free State asbestos audit scandal was used to line ANC pockets.
The ANC's Paul Mashatile received more than R370 000, deputy minister Pinky Kekana R170 000, deputy minister Zizi Kodwa R174 000, and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi R45 000.
Former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize also received more than R6.5 million, money which allegedly landed in the coffers of the ANC.
"I think what we will see is more of what we saw happen to Dudu Myeni. It's almost as if people will be informally blacklisted, in other words they won't serve on any boards anymore and people would know that these guys are not to be trusted," said Venter in his analysis.
"I don't think they will go to jail; it will be less than that."
Former president Jacob Zuma is also fingered in the latest instalment, with the report adding he was willing to do the Guptas' bidding from early on in his term.
It's not the first time his name has caused a stir at the commission.
"This time around it seems to me they have their knives in for him," Venter added.
While Venter has his reservations about prosecutions, he believes politicians will pay for their sins at the polls.
"Even if there is no accountability, I think the voters will take that into account."
