Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli are on trial for the 2014 murder of the former Bafana Bafana captain.

They briefly appeared in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.

Advocate Malesela Tefo, representing some of the accused, told the court his clients do not know why they are in court.

He said that his clients are still clueless about the charges that have been brought against them by theState.

“My clients, 1 - 4, are requesting nothing but expeditious justice. I see here my learned colleague who Is accused number 5 is using this court’s time because we were supposed to have started yesterday. She is using this court’s time to get through the back door with her pre-trial issues. So, until such time your lordship, the charges have been put to my clients they don’t know what they’re here for.”

This was the second postponement in as many days.

On Monday, Judge Tshifiwa Maumela granted Advocate Zandile Mshololo a one-day postponement.

But on Tuesday, Mshololo argued that consultation time granted to her on Monday was insufficient to go through statements.

She represents accused number five.

Mshololo told the court that she would need at least more time to consult with the witnesses who live in KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg.

“Five days is not enough my lord. However, we are going to try our best. We have been given limited time my lord, seeing that the trial has already started we have to push and must work fast so that we can make sure we’re able to come back ready to resume with this trial. All we’re asking for my lord is one-day was insufficient, so we therefore ask for another five days.”

At the time of his death, Meyiwa was at the home of his songstress girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.

Khumalo's legal representative, Advocate Magdalene Moonsamy, also confirmed that she is not a suspect in the murder case but a witness in the murder trial.
