Another top Eskom official resigns

The power utility's acting head of Group Capital, Prish Govender, resigned with immediate effect on Tuesday afternoon.

Govender's resignation follows the resignation by suspended Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Anoj Singh, who parted ways with the power utility on Monday.

Spokesperson, Khulu Phasiwe, says Govender was implicated in unlawful procurement processes involving payments to McKinsey and Trillian.
Govender was suspended last year but reinstated after an internal process found the corruption allegations levelled against him as false.

"In terms of the investigation done internally, there was no direct link that was found in terms of his involvement."
The newly appointed thirteen-member board started their first day at the power utility on Monday.
"The whole process have now been completed, but obviously there were a lot of rumors and other things swelling around him and he just decided to go," says Phasiwe.
