“Indeed, a great ethical and principled as well as courageous and moral leader died, it leaves a void. We know that those values are unparalleled in South Africa, especially when as we pursue the values of good governance.
“We will miss Kimi’s determination to make the country accountable especially when it comes to public spending. I regret that his passing still leaves the void, and we pray for Tsakani [Maluleke] the successor that she will really help deal with so many unqualified audits which remains so high, such amount of money being wasted and not serving for the common good.
He called on municipalities to adhere to clean governance in tribute to Makwetu.
“We call upon on South Africans and especially those that are running for municipalities and are running municipalities, to commit to the principle of serving all God’s people of integrity.”
