Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Jackson were denied bail in the Middelburg High Court on Thursday.
Oosthuizen and Jackson applied for bail pending the outcome of their petition to the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA), challenging their convictions and sentences.
The due was sentenced to 11 and 14 years imprisonment respectively in August for the attempted murder of Victor Mlotshwa.
The National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Monica Nyuswa says they believe the court made the correct decision.

"The applicants believe they have brought facts to appeal bail. Oosthuizen said that he was the breadwinner at home and that the family cannot do without him.
"There were no new facts on the application, the same facts were presented as in their sentencing."
The duo sparked outrage after video footage emerge of the convicted pair trying to force Mlotshwa in a coffin.

"The judge indicated that there is no other court that will come to a different conclusion. As for the NPA we are still opposing bail and we are happy with the court's decision," says Nyuswa.
