Updated | By MornéJK
Reverend Barney Pityana said that South Africa has regressed since the dawn of democracy, despite initial strides made.
The reverend and Archbishop, Desmond Tutu's family family friend spoke during a service in Johannesburg on Sunday, where the Arch was honored for his 40 years of selfless service.
Pityana was reflecting on the country's socio-economic challenges saying that if we are to overcome challenges of poverty, unemployment, health, education, land restitution, the economy, bitterness, anger, we need men and women full of goodness, faith truth and love.
The Saint Mary's Cathedral Church honoured Archbishop Desmond Tutu's for 40 years of service on Sunday.
Archbishop Tutu has served as the Dean of Saint Mary's prior to being appointed as bishop of Lesotho 40 years ago with former presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motltanthe who attended the service.
