Beaufort West dam runs dry
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Beaufort West's main water source, the Gamka Dam, is a
picture of scorched earth - dry to the touch.
Authorities say the Gamka Dam in Beaufort West is officially empty.
The Karoo town is now receiving water from boreholes and the local water reclamation plant.
The Western Cape's average dam level stands at 25.7%.
Spokesperson for the province's Local Government MEC, JamesBrent-Styan says every drop of water counts.
There are fears that the town's boreholes could also soon run dry.

Note: Beaufort-West has NOT reached day Zero. The town has run out of surface water but has relied on boreholes for a long time.
