Rush-hour traffic was brought to a standstill and pedestrians had to run for cover when a swarm of bees descended on south-east London last night.

According to SkyNews, the swarm subsided after an hour when beekeeper Phil Clarkson and his wife Tracey used a mobile hive to collect many of the insects.

Clarkson, who placed the mobile hive on top of his car, told SkyNews the swarm possibly came from Greenwich Park.

"Nobody was stung here today," he said.
