Johannesburg emergency services on Wednesday battled another blaze in the CBD, this time at the South African Revenue Service (Sars) building in Marshalltown.
The fire caused road closures on Rissik, Albert and Frederick streets.
Spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba said no injuries were reported.
"We can confirm that the fire has been contained at the basement level, which is being used as storage. The employees have been evacuated from the building. Everyone is safe for now."
Radebe-Kgiba said the cause of the fire is not yet known.
This is the fourth fire reported in the Joburg inner city in recent months, including one at a hijacked building in Marshalltown which claimed the lives of 77 people.
