Maasdorp has come under fire for comments he made on Twitter, celebrating the deaths of four pupils at Hoërskool Driehoek in Vanderbijlpark.

The pupils died after a walkway collapsed at the school on Friday.

The BLF claimed the deaths of the four children were a result of “a punishment from God or the ancestors”.

BLF President Andile Mngxitama says the tweet should be seen in context.

"No, there will be no action taken against the spokesperson, we have explained to you how his tweet operates within a conversation that was going on," he said at a media briefing on Tuesday.

Mngxitama said the country should rather focus on convening a forum where all issues can be ironed out.

"Instead of punishing Comrade Lindsay what we need to do as a nation is to have a forum to discuss how we move forward to address these divisions in society.

"Are white people ready to enter into an honest discussion about returning land so that we don't have the kind of division we are having today?

"As we say, we want an honest conversation about what South Africa is,. This is the most difficult thing."

The BLF also responded to efforts by the Democratic Alliance's (DA) to prevent the party from taking part in this year’s elections.

Mngxitama says the party will be heading to the polls, despite the DA's attempt to prevent them.

"As far as the DA is concerned, the DA is terrified of Black First, Land First. The DA is so terrified of the possibility that the BLF will be in Parliament.

"The DA can't take reality that  a black authentic voice which will not be beholden to white monopoly capital which will not give Helen Zille political power anywhere.

"Every single day we will be on the case of white monopoly capital is going to Parliament.”
