Police in Pretoria have launched an investigation after two women were killed in an apparent house robbery in Garsfontein early this morning.
Police spokesperson Ilse Jones says SAPS Garsfontein received a complaint from a neighbour shortly after midnight.
"SAPS found that a house robbery has occurred. Two females were found deceased on the scene with stab wounds. Another three people - one male and two females - were found on the scene with injuries, also stab wounds," says Jones.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the people had been tied up, assaulted and stabbed.
"After the injured were examined it was found that two females tragically died before our arrival, one female was in a critical condition, a man was seriously injured while another female escaped with moderate injuries," says Botha.
Jones says electrical equipment and one vehicle was taken by the suspects.
"The vehicle, however, was found and retrieved by a tracking company in Yeoville, Johannesburg," says Jones.
Jones says SAPS are investigating a house robbery and murder case.
