Bodies of 15 suspected illegal miners found underground in Primrose

Gauteng police have launched an investigation into the deaths of 15 people who were found inside a mining hole at Homestead in Primrose, east of Johannesburg.
The first eight bodies were found on Thursday after police were alerted by community members of suspected illegal miners trapped underground.
Seven more bodies were found on Saturday evening at the same mining hole.
“We have opened an inquest docket following the discovery of the bodies inside a mine hole in Primrose, police were informed about the alleged illegal miners who were trapped in the mine. Police investigations are continuing,” said Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello.
