Bodies of slain Hartswater couple found

The two bodies of an elderly couple who were attacked on their farm in Hartswater in the Northern Cape has been found.

Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says the bodies of the parents - 83-year-old father and 79-year-old mother - were recovered on Tuesday.

This while a suspect has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a family on a farm outside the Northern Cape.

Naidoo said it is believed the family of three were attacked on Sunday.

The body of the 50-year old daughter was found in a field in Taung, North West.

"I can confirm that following the armed robbery, kidnapping and murder of the Hartswater family we have now since arrested a fourth suspect a 36-year-old man and the bodies of the two senior citizens their bodies have been found in a veld in the Takaneng village in the Northern Cape.

"We are confident we arrested all the suspects linked to the case.

"The incident was reported to the police yesterday after a family member residing in Johannesburg suspected that something was wrong when he was unable to get in touch with his parents and sister since Sunday,” says Naidoo.

Naidoo says the suspects left with the victim's cars.

"All three occupants of the house could not be found and their two sedans were also missing.”

He adds that one of the stolen vehicles was found along with the daughter’s body in Taung.

"The second vehicle…was spotted in the area of Pudimoe being driven by a woman with two male passengers. The vehicle was stopped and three suspects were subsequently arrested.

"Follow-up investigations were conducted throughout the night and in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday) the body of the 50-year-old daughter was found in a field in the Takaneng Village in Taung. She had been murdered but the cause of death is yet to be determined."

The suspects will appear in court soon.
