The infamous bogus doctor Matthew Lani is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
He was arrested by the Helen Joseph Hospital security on Sunday night, disguised in a hoodie and wearing a surgical mask with a stethoscope around his neck.
The 27-year-old is notorious for claiming to be a medical practitioner from Wits Medical School and is already in hot water with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Cambridge International College also indicated that it will be taking legal action against him.
"It is alleged that the suspect was seen on Friday at the hospital reportedly making videos, and hospital staff was informed to be on the lookout for him," said Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale.
"Another case of impersonating was opened at Tembisa where the same suspect is alleged to have utilised the credentials of a practising doctor to fool other hospital staff."
