Police in Gauteng have arrested a bogus doctor and a pregnant woman for concealing the birth of her baby.

The two suspects were arrested in Johannesburg on Friday.
Johannesburg police spokesperson Xoli Mbele says the 20-year-old woman and her boyfriend visited the bogus doctor on Thursday for an abortion.
She was seven months pregnant at the time.
“They paid R3000, an abortion was conducted by the suspect and his accomplice bogus female nurse who is still at large.”
Mbele says the woman’s mother subsequently noticed she was no longer pregnant.
“The pregnant female told her mother that she had a miscarriage at Alexandra Clinic. Her aunt took her the following day to the clinic to collect the foetus for burial, but she discovered that she did not go to the clinic.
“She told her aunt what really happened and she was transferred to Edenvale Hospital for medical reasons. Police were contacted and took her to point out the crime scene.”
The bogus doctor was arrested, while the hunt continues for his accomplice.
The suspects are expected to appear in court on Monday.
