The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) had to evacuate of travellers from the domestic arrivals terminal on Wednesday evening.
The evacuation came after ACSA received an anonymous notification of an alleged bomb threat at the domestic arrivals hall in the afternoon.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Airports Company said that the domestic arrivals hall was declared safe after 7pm following police investigations.
“After a thorough investigation by the South African Police Service (SAPS), it emerged that there was no reason for concern, normal service has since resumed, and the domestic arrivals hall was declared safe as at 19:25 GMT.”
Eight domestic flights were affected.
“ACSA’s primary concern will always be the security of our passengers and staff, and it was imperative that action be taken immediately to ensure their safety,” the statement said.
