Break-in at the City of Johannesburg's offices
Updated | By Valerie Robinson
The offices of the City Council of Johannesburg, located at the Metro Centre in Rissik Street in Braamfontein, have been burgled.
Hawks head in Gauteng, Shadrack Sibiya, has been at the scene on Saturday morning, where representatives of the elite crime fighting unit have been joined by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and the City of Johannesburg's City's Group Forensic Services.
Sibiya confirmed to JacarandaFM News the offices that the burglars gained access into the offices of high placed city politicians.
"It is mainly the chief whips office, as well as the deputy chief whip and their PA's and several other offices. We are still waiting for them to give us a conformation on what was stolen."
Sibiya says it's not clear yet how the suspects got access to the offices.
"We can see the suspects moving around on the CCTV," he added.
Sibiya could not yet confirmed exactly what was stolen.
JMPD Spokesperson Wayne Minaar says the investigation has not resulted in any road closures.
