The men convicted of murdering Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole will know their fate today as sentencing is expected to end today.


Mthinta Bhengu and Sifundo Mzimela will be sentenced at the Johannesburg Magistrate's court today.


Sithole's murder made headline news during last year's xenophobic attacks in Alexandra, as his attack was captured by a local photographer and featured on the front page of many newspapers.

Efficient Group Economist Francois Stofberg believes last week's interest rate hike has restored some confidence in the South African economy. 


The rand has been going through a tough time of late, especially after December's finance minister reshuffles. It has however, been on an upward curve since the rate hike decision. 

The Rand was trading around R16. 50 last week and is now down to R15, 87 this morning.


The ANC has admitted its leadership in the Western Cape is in serious trouble. A few people turned out at a meeting in Grabouw at the weekend, with both provincial chairperson Marius Fransman and provincial secretary Faiez Jacobs under investigation. 


Amid speculation that the provincial structure will be disbanded, the party's Top Six will be in Cape Town this week, to sort out the mess. 


The ANC Western Cape Spokesperson, Jabu Mfusi has confirmed the meeting and the agenda that will be addressed today.  


The SRC at the University of the Witwatersrand, have raised at least R2 million to help students with their tuition fees. The student council yesterday kicked off a fundraising campaign called #Access to assist students who cannot register due to historical debt.

Idols Judge, Gareth Cliff will be back on the show to commence his duties on Wednesday after the court ruled in his favour on Friday.
