Brrrr! Cold front, snow as SA heads into freezing weekend

South Africans in several parts of the country will have to keep the blankets and jerseys handy as we head into what is expected to be a cold weekend.

Temperatures are only expected to be start warming up on Monday.


South African Weather Service forecaster Lethlogonolo Thobela says most parts of the country can expect cold conditions throughout the weekend. 


“Into the weekend, Gauteng and most parts of the country are to expect cold conditions. However moving into the week the weather seems to be warming up. And just only showers and rain along the east and south coast of the country.


“We expecting south western parts of the country to experience showers and thundershowers, a 30% chance for central interior and 60% chance along the east coast of the country with a 60 % chance of showers and thundershowers in most parts of the Western Cape and 80% chance of thundershowers along the west coast of the Western Cape.”

“On Saturday, snow is expected around the high-lying areas of KZN and Eastern Cape. And a 60% chance showers and thunder showers expected along the eastern parts of the country with 80% chance of thundershowers of the east coast,” says Thobela
