Building on fire in Durban CBD

Emergency medical services in KwaZulu-Natal are on
high alert after a building caught alight in Durban CBD on Friday.
EMS spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie says that as of noon paramedics and firefighters were still on the scene.
“Paramedics and emergency services are still at the scene of the fire which broke out earlier today at a building in the Durban CBD,” said Mckenzie on Friday afternoon.
He says 11 people were medically assessed at the scene with two people rushed to hospital.
“Paramedics have treated and assessed 11 patients at the scene. Only two of these patients required transport to hospital for continued medical care. The remaining patients were assessed at the scene did not require to be transported hospital.”
The cause of the fire has not been established yet as Mckenzie says they continue to search the building for survivors
“Firefighters are still searching the building for any more potential victims.”
