A primary school, the offices of the Department of Water and Sanitation and the post office were torched.
Police say the community is demanding the construction of a tar road in the town.
"We have deployed members of the Public Order Police, the Makhado Cluster First Responder Team as well as uniformed police to monitor the situation," says police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafelo Mojapelo.
Mojapelo says no arrests have been made and cases of public violence and arson are being investigated.
