Sodi was arrested on Tuesday after he handed himself over to the police.

He faces a charge of attempted murder, two counts of pointing of a firearm as well as a charge of assault with intent to do grevious bodily harm.

This after an encounter with estranged wife Nthateng Lerata at his upmarket Bryanston home last week.

Lerata alleges Sodi attacked her and a male friend on the premises.

He appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane revealed Sodi's bail conditions on Friday.

"The conditions attached to his release on bail are such that he should remain at his place of residence being under house arrest and should report to the investigating officer as and when he requires to move from his place of residence, that he should not make any contact with any of the state witnesses directly or indirectly," said Mjonondwane.

The case was postponed to May 31 for further investigations.

Sodi is also still the subject of a corruption case related to a R255 million asbestos project in the Free State.

He, and six others, face additional charges of fraud and money laundering.
