Cabinet discussing Mboweni’s economic recovery plan
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu has confirmed that Finance Minister Tito Mboweni's economic policy paper is being discussed by cabinet.

Treasury released the document entitled ‘Economic Transformation, Inclusive Growth, and Competitiveness: Towards an Economic Strategy for South Africa” in August, but came under fire for not discussing it in cabinet or with the African National Congress (ANC) alliance partners.
The paper emphasises the role of the private sector in the generation of investments and jobs.
Briefing the media on this week’s cabinet meeting, Mthembu said the economic plan had been tabled.

“We are now discussing that document as cabinet in an extended platform that includes deputy ministers.
“South Africans have made very impressive contributions to the document. We are told by Treasury that over 700 inputs and interventions were made by South Africans.”
