Cable thieves leave Irene in the dark

Irene, south of Pretoria, has been without power since Monday morning following cable theft between Waterkloof and Irene sub-stations.

Irene, south of Pretoria, has been without power since Monday morning following cable theft between Waterkloof and Irene sub-stations.
The city of Tshwane is appealing to all its consumers to help stop this vandalism and has apologised for the power outage in the area. Technicians are on scene to ensure that power is restored as soon as possible. City of Tshwane also say that they are hopeful that they will have the power restored by no later than this evening.
The City has also appealed to consumers to help stop the theft and vandalism throughout the Tshwane supply area by reporting such acts. Cable theft can be reported at 012 358 9999 and choose the Electricity option.
Consumers are requested to treat all apparatus at all times as alive/energised. Switch off all non-essential appliances to assist with the load on the electrical network
Power failures can also be reported by SMS. Consumers must please SMS the word "Power" followed by their account number to 082 612 0333 or via phone 012 358 9999 choose the Electricity option.
