Calls for calm after Mpumalanga 'family murder'
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Acting Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Speedy Mashilo has called for calm in Mkhondo following the deaths of a woman and her three children.
The bodies of twin boys (11) and a 6-year-old girl were discovered by police at their home of residence in Phola Park, Thandukukhanya on Friday.
The bodies were found after family members alerted police that they were unable to get hold of the deceased.
Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says the MEC has called for the community to work together with police to bring an end to violent crimes against women and children.
“Our communities should not be living in fear. That is why we want our police to work with great speed and ensure that those who are responsible are brought to book.
"Condemnation of these heightened levels of violence alone is not enough, there is a urgent need now more than ever, to identify the root causes of violent crimes, so that we all respond more appropriately.”
