The court case against four men accused of lining the N1 with spikes has been postponed due to a faulty recording machine.
The accused, Paul Mudzinga (47), as well as 51-year-old Brighton Becelit Chauke, Tshepiso Relela (32) and 32-year-old Percy Chauke appeared in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Friday.
They have been charged with two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, three counts of being illegal immigrants, possession of firearms and ammunition.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the province Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi says at the time of their arrest, the suspects were found with spikes and ammunition.
“The suspects were found in possession of spikes carried in a bag, a police firearm, 27 live ammunition, cellphones, bank cards and watches.”
The group allegedly targeted motorists, robbing them of their belongings along the N1 and R101 roads by placing spikes at some places on these roads.
The matter, which was scheduled for a bail hearing, has been postponed to 1 October.
