ANC Member of Parliament (MP) Sibusiso Kula is set to appear before the North West High Court for a pre-trial conference on 29 January 2024, where a trial date will be decided.
The case has been transferred from the Klerksdorp Regional Court.
Kula is accused of the murder of his wife, Jennifer Mohlomi.
Her body was found on 27 November 2022 in what seemed like a robbery scene.
Mohlomi was found with a stab wound in her back, but the murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the North West, Henry Mamothame, says investigations have been completed and the state is ready to proceed with trial.
"Kula, who is a Member of Parliament, is currently out on R50 000 bail granted by the High Court of South Africa, North West Division following his appeal against the Orkney Magistrates’ Court decision to deny him bail.
"He was ordered to surrender his passports, report twice a day at the nearest police station, provide the Investigating Officer with his work itinerary, report to the Investigating Officer if he must move outside his residential jurisdiction, and have no direct or indirect contact with his children".
