The heavily armed suspects were taken down in Mndeni, Soweto on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo says the gang was en route to commit an armed robbery.
"They were found with three rifles, a pistol, magazines loaded with scores of ammunitions, two cars that are reported to be hijacked and a jammer,” he says.
"Two of the cars that were found at the premises, a BMW and Hyundai H100 bakkie, were reported to be hijacked in Sandton and Linden this year."
